Have you ever heard of someone’s big success story and thought to yourself that they were just “lucky” or were “dealt the right cards”? I know I have. However, I have come to realize that big success stories can happen to anybody with the right mindset. A mindset that is driven towards a specific goal and one that does not give up. Enter: consistency.
“We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day.”
Richard g. scott
Okay, don’t you just love this quote? Consistency is something that needs to happen on a daily basis in order to reach the success of whatever it is that you want. This can be applied to any area of life too; money, diet, exercise, spiritual, etc.
How does one create consistency? You guessed it… by creating habits. Habits are going to form the consistent action that you need. It is important to realize that even little habits will add up into a small string of habits that will turn into a lifestyle of action towards your goals. One of my favorite books is Atomic Habits by James Clear. It talks about how we as humans are habitual beings in nature and how we can actually use that to our advantage.
“Motivation gets you going, but discipline keeps you growing. That’s the Law of Consistency. It doesn’t matter how talented you are. It doesn’t matter how many opportunities you receive. If you want to grow, consistency is key.”
John c. maxwell
Lack of discipline can create a negative impact on many different aspects of your life. You are moving backwards instead of forwards. There is no stagnancy when it comes to life; we’re either progressing or retrogressing. Time is one of the most precious resources we have and unfortunately too many people waste it.
Motivation is a good start to changing your life, but where most of the us lack is in taking action and following through on what we say and think. Actions do speak louder than words. Consistency will get you to success, it’s just a matter of time.
